Study: Comprehensive genomic survey of carbapenem-resistant Enterobacteriaceae in Spain
show Abstracthide Abstract
To get a wide view of the distribution, the characteristics and the mechanisms of resistance to carbapenem in Enterobacteria in Spain, 461 strains were isolated from 41 Spanish hospitals and sequenced both with long and short reads to perform hybrid assemblies which allowed us to define their genetic characteristics, the genomic mechanisms which bear the carbapenemase-enzymes, the mechanisms associated with other antimicrobials, the molecular epidemiology of 16S rRNA methyltransferases, and to define the gene clusters implicated in the successful spread of K. pneumoniae ST-15 in Spain.
